NŪR (Congo, The Democratic Republic of the) by Ryan Youngblood
Tricked by a persuasive recruiter and pressured by his best friend, Nūr leaves his mother and younger siblings to join the Islamic State in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He believes he will be given a job and earn money to support his family, but instead finds himself in a remote jungle camp where the hyper-violent group radicalizes and indoctrinates its combatants. Here, it is truly kill or be killed. While his friend Ibra learns to thrive in this distorted world, Nūr struggles to maintain his identity and his faith. Then, a mysterious flyer dropped from a plane promises a possible path home. Nūr must decide whether saving himself is worth risking his life. The Islamic State in the Democratic Republic of Congo is the deadliest rebel force in a nation torn apart by two decades of war. Hidden deep within the jungle, their secrecy and ruthless control have made it nearly impossible for the outside world to glimpse life inside their camps—until now. This film brings that hidden world to life. Former fighters who surrendered, and survivors who endured the group’s brutality, step into the roles of both victim and perpetrator to recreate the terrifying reality of life inside the jihadists’ strongholds. Filmed at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains in Central Africa—where the conflict still rages today—this is a rare, unflinching journey into the heart of the Islamic State in the DRC.

Pleasure Nature (Belgium) by Lewis De Cooman
Pleasure Nature is a non-traditional fiction film that questions the persistent stereotyping within the queer scene through a series of visual constructions. Alexander, a young man in his twenties, lives beneath the weight of a world where queer love is reduced to something sexual and animalistic. His deep, unspoken desire to one day become a father stands in stark contrast to how he is perceived: as the personification of untamed passion. Society, a living entity embodied by Archos, fragmentarily invades Alexander’s space, forcing him to navigate through stereotyped fantasies: from homoeroticism in a Roman amphitheater, to forbidden romance in classic Hollywood, to scenes of bestial dehumanization. As the story progresses, Archos becomes a shadowy antagonist that challenges Alexander at every turn. Caught between the role of the beast and that of a loving man, Alexander’s journey becomes an ultimate act of rebellion, aimed at defying and transforming Archos. In the heat of an apocalyptic duel, the metaphor unexpectedly becomes literal: descendants, born from both himself and Archos.

Our Father (United States) by Jannelle Christa
A priest, haunted by the consequences of faith, finds his world upended when he unknowingly baptizes a man who confesses only to unnamed sins. The priest soon discovers that his new convert is a calculating killer, driven by a twisted need to absolve his own guilt through violence against those he believes are sinners. Convinced that each murder is a form of penance, the killer forces the priest into a crisis of morality, faith, and duty—challenging the very bedrock of his beliefs.
As the body count rises, the priest’s sanctuary transforms into a battleground of conscience, where the boundaries between salvation and damnation become dangerously blurred. Wrestling with his teachings that only God can judge, he is repeatedly drawn into the killer’s dark logic and becomes tormented by his own complicity, guilt, and powerlessness. His desperation to protect innocent lives drives him to reconsider the meaning of justice, mercy, and redemption.
With each new escalation, the film plunges deeper into psychological tension, exploring the cost of taking judgment into one’s own hands. In a devastating climax, the priest is compelled to confront the killer—leading to an act of violence that shatters his faith and leaves lingering questions about sin, forgiveness, and human frailty. “Our Father” offers a harrowing, morally complex portrait of a soul tested by the very tenets it seeks to uphold.
